Stronger together

The Floods of 2025

The floods of July 2025 became one of the darkest chapters in the history of Hunt and the Guadalupe River Valley. Following extraordinary rainfall across the Texas Hill Country, the Guadalupe River rose with unprecedented speed and force, transforming the river we have long cherished into a powerful and destructive force. In the early hours of the morning, floodwaters swept through the valley, forever changing countless lives and leaving a lasting impact on our community.

The devastation extended far beyond damaged buildings and washed-out roads. Families lost loved ones. Friends, neighbors, campers, and members of our community were taken far too soon. The tragedy touched nearly every person connected to Hunt, leaving behind grief that will be carried for generations. For many, the events of those days remain difficult to put into words.

Yet even in the face of such profound loss, the spirit of Hunt endured.

As search and recovery efforts continued, people from across Texas and beyond came together to support our community. Neighbors helped neighbors, volunteers worked tirelessly, and strangers became friends united by a common purpose. In moments of heartbreak, countless acts of kindness, compassion, and generosity reminded us of the strength that exists within this community.

For generations, The Hunt Store has stood at the heart of Hunt, witnessing celebrations, traditions, and milestones shared by families year after year. The floods of 2025 became another chapter in that story—one marked by sorrow, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to one another. While the river forever changed the landscape, it also revealed the extraordinary character of the people who call this place home.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives, honor the families forever affected, and remain grateful for the countless individuals who helped carry our community through its most difficult days. Their memories remain woven into the story of Hunt and into the heart of this valley.

As we continue to heal and rebuild, we do so together. The floods of 2025 reminded us that the true strength of Hunt is not found in places or structures, but in its people—their courage, compassion, and unwavering love for one another. That spirit continues to guide us forward and will remain a part of this community for generations to come.
